Ajay Devgan Working Towards 6 Pack Abs

Ajay Devgan is quietly working on building six-pack abs with trainer Shereveer. Trainer Shereveer Vakil who started out with Anil Kapoor in Pukar is now training Ajay Devgan (whose next release is Halla Bol ) and a host of other celebrities.

Says Shereveer, "I have been training Ajay since the last few months. I accompanied him on the shoots too. Ajay's body has shaped out very well and his strength and stamina level has shot up. I am a hard taskmaster but sometimes when I see him pushing himself too much I tell him to stop."

AJAY'S WORKOUT SCHEDULE

Ajay's workout schedule consists of an hour and 15 minutes of pure weight training which is followed y by cardio.

"In the one hour of weight training we don't take rest. Ajay does his cardio by himself. I train him and we work out together every day. I want him to look like John Travolta or Kurt Russel," adds the trainer.

So is Devgan also trying for six-pack abs? Shereveer says, "Yes, even Ajay is working towards that but we are not hurrying up for it. Anybody can get six-pack abs by not eating, doing lots of cardio and other things. It's not a big deal."

The trainer elaborates, "Ajay feels it's more important to get a complete physical shape, good arms, chest, shoulders and then six-pack abs. There is no point in getting six-pack abs where your face looks bad.

One can get it in 60 days if you just control your fat intake and do cardio, but then you lose your muscle tone, your energy level dips and your strength gets lowered. I am working on Ajay getting a solid muscular lean look where the whole is better than just some parts. This way he has training power, agility and endurance and a hot body!"

AJAY DEVGAN'S DIET ROUTINE

Shereveer says Ajay is a strict disciplinarian when it comes to food. “If Ajay is given a diet he will follow it to the T. His meal plan is very healthy and is changed on a weekly basis.”

The trainer elaborates on the diet. “The meal is low on carbs in the evening and night and we load up on carbs after every workout. Once in a week Ajay gets gets to eat what he wants like Coca Cola and French fries. He loves food but he's not a big eater.”

Diet and Fitness Regime Behind Shahrukh Khan's Six Pack Abs

DIET ROUTINE SHAHRUKH FOLLOWED FOR HIS SIX PACK

MORNING - Protein shake
LUNCH - Grilled chicken and salad leaves
EVENING - Another protein shake
DINNER - Same as lunch

This diet is followed for five days. On weekends, Shah Rukh eats roti, dal, sabzi & rice without ghee.

There is no limit to the amount of protein shakes one can have. But coffee and tea are banned and so are sweets His trainer Prashant Sawant says Shah Rukh can sustain this gruelling diet as he is not a big eater. But will it affect his health? Not according to his trainer. Dismissing media reports, which stated that the star suffered severe cramps in his legs as a result of the diet, Sawant says the leg problem was caused by an injury he had while shooting in Australia

EXERCISE REGIME FOR SHAHRUKH'S 6 PACK ABS

SRK's Workout focuses on chest, back and shoulders. He also does circuit training — essentially endurance training like push-ups and sit-ups.

Shah Rukh does a lot of weight lifting and cardio. Football and cricket were included in his workout to keep his flexibilty levels up.

SHAHRUKH TALKS ABOUT HIS SIX PACK

I’m quite old now and working out was very difficult for me. It took three months of a controlled diet and tough workouts to build my six-pack abs.

I was also on a high-protein diet. My trainer, Prashant, took some tips from Salman. My new fitness regimen has also helped me control my back pain and as such I’ve decided to continue with it.

Deepika Padukone Diet and Fitness Regime

DEEPIKA'S EXERCISE AND GYMMING FOR A PERFECT FIGURE

I think working towards maintaining a healthy body should be a priority for everyone. I try and work out as often as possible; since I am regularly traveling, it becomes difficult to have a daily work out routine but whenever I hit the gym I do cardio and light weights. I have an athletic body, thanks to my years dedicated to badminton but I do concentrate on butt regions.

I go to the gym whenever I can. Now I have joined the Sykes gym in Andheri and I do make it a point when I am travelling to work out in the hotel gym.

Trainer: In Bangalore I did have a trainer and here at the gym too there are trainers who guide you but otherwise I don’t work with a trainer.

Yoga: I have just started yoga. I do it in the evenings. I go to a Yoga school nearby.

Sports: until two years back I played basketball and even some baseball for the state. I am a sporty person but get less time now.

I was fitter when I was younger. When I played badminton I used to get up early and run for 40 minutes and do heavy weight training. I was fitter when I played. But it helps me now in terms of flexibility.

Dance has been another defining influence for Deepika

Jazz, Bharat Natyam (“in my modelling days, this dance training gave me grace and poise; today, it helps to keep me fit”), Kathak; the lissome lass firmly believes in the positive impact of extra-curricular activities. “I think it's very important for all kids to learn some form of sport, dance and music.”

If a person is looking at losing weight, just diet or just exercise won’t help you have to combine the two. I combine cardio with weight training. If I can’t go to the gym walk twice a day half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening.

For me fitness is not about being skinny or slim. It’s about being healthy from inside also. I think one should combine exercising along with eating the right kind of food-healthy wholesome food.

DEEPIKA'S DIET ROUTINE:

During shoots I eat regular ghar ka khana (home made food) with dal, roti, sabzi, raita, salad and some non vegetarian. But if it’s studio food then I stick to idlis and very light food.

Breakfast - I can’t do without breakfast. I have a huge breakfast - sometimes we have non vegetarian - sometimes upma, idlis, dosa, parathas - whatever it is I eat a lot of it.

Lunch - I have two rotis and some vegetable, some dal, rice and salad so that makes it a balanced diet and it covers everything.

Dinner - I avoid rice and non vegetarian at night.

I Binge on Thai food and chocolate desserts.

FITNESS TIPS FROM DEEPIKA

Please combine exercise and diet. Just one does not help you to either lose weight or remain healthy. Think healthy and have a positive mind set.

Make-up Tips From Deepika Padukone

CONCEALER:
It can help hide dark circles, redness and blemishes. Used with foundation, it helps to achieve the flawless look. You can choose from liquid or stick concealers. Remember that concealer must be applied BEFORE your foundation. Choose a concealer that closely matches your skin tone, dot it on the trouble spots and blend well.

FOUNDATION:
When selecting your foundation, test it on your jawline. This will tell you immediately if it blends with your skin. You can apply foundation either on your bar skin on after using a moisturizer. Use your fingertips or a sponge. After dotting your face with foundation, remember to always blend it outwards. A matte finish gives medium to full coverage and delivers a no-shine look. A natural finish is meant to look like you’re not wearing any make up. It has light to medium finish and a non-powdery finish.

BLUSH ON:
Powder blush comes in a traditional compact and is applied with a brush. It provides a light, matte finish. Budge-Proof blush is cream-to-powder formula that is applied with a sponge applicator and lasts for hours.

EYE SHADOW:
A good eye shadow, which suits you, tends to enhance your look. Every woman can wear lavender and violet on the eyes, regardless of skin tone, because purple tones are a combination of warm red and cool blue and they flatter the skin. Besides this, green and pink eye shadows also look good.

MASCARA:
The current trend is a dramatic, open-eyed look, which can make you look extremely sensuous, says Deepika Padukone, brand ambassador, Maybeline New York. Mascara darkens and extends the tips of the eye lashes, making them look longer. It also separates each individual lash for a clean and natural look. While purchasing a mascara, remember that it must be ophthalmologist/dermatologist/allergy rested and safe for sensitive eyes/compact lens wearers.

LIPS:
The skin on the lips is extremely delicate and needs pampering. When deprived of care, it is susceptible to dehydration and cracking. So make sure that you do not compromise when buying lipsticks.

Shilpa Shetty's Beauty and Make-Up Tips

MAKE-UP TIPS

- MY basic rule is "less is more". Wearing a heavy base, caked powder and red rouge just looks scary.

- Never do your face in public. You distort your face to apply cosmetics and that is not an attractive look, which is why I applied mine away from the cameras in the Big Brother bathroom.

- Accentuate just one feature. If, like me, you want to draw attention to your eyes keep your lipstick quite understated. If you have lovely, pouty lips, wear a darker gloss and keep your eyes subtle.

- Eyelash curlers can open up your eyes and give them definition without the need for layers of mascara.

- Use false eyelashes for a more glamorous night-time look.

BEAUTY TIPS

- No matter how late I come home, I always remove my make-up. I mix pure coconut oil with olive oil, smooth it over my skin and wipe it off with cotton wool. It's naturally soothing to skin.

- Try to sleep for a minimum of eight hours a day and never use soap on your face - it's too harsh.

- Don't overload your skin with fancy products. My mum, who is 57 and has amazing skin, says the more you use when you're young, the worse it gets when you age.

- And try having your eyebrows threaded at a salon to avoid in-growing hairs.

Shilpa Shetty's Hair Care Tips

HAIR CARE

- Keep it natural. Hair that has been crimped, curled and sprayed looks so overdone. Best to make it look as if it's natural, loose and shiny.

- Wash hair every second day so it isn't stripped of natural oils.

- And change your shampoo regularly, as using the same products causes build up. I don't use any particular shampoo but the best conditioner is the L'Oreal Kerastase range - you can feel it working.

- My hair is blow-dried straight, but I'd never use heated straighteners as they frazzle your hair.

Amisha Patel's Beauty and Fitness Fundas

An absolute make-up must-have
A baby pink lip gloss.

My favourite beauty treatment
Facials

My best feature and how I highlight it
My eyes! I use colourless or black mascara (according to the occasion) kohl on the inner eyes to accentuate them.

My worst feature and how I camouflage it
My ears! I am constantly trying to hide them by leaving my hair open.

Make-up by day
Colourless mascara, pink blush and lip gloss. But if I’m in no mood for make-up, I’ll leave my face clean, with just a bit of Clarins moisturiser.

Make-up at night
I prefer deeper colours at night. I play around my eyes with kohl and black mascara, a little bit ofbronzer, and go for a darker nail colour.

My skin loves
Lots of water and the hands of my facial lady!

A make-up blooper and how I coped with it:
In one of my films, I used a dark lip liner around a lighter shade of lipstick; it was a trend then.I shot a couple of scenes and when I saw the rushes, I realised that it looked like burnt lips filled up with colour! I learned that the hard way!

Beauty rituals:
Cleansing! I use a facewash frequently and remove all traces of make-up before I unwind.

10 minutes to go on a special date, your style funda would be:
I’d use a face mask that is a quick fix (it works as an instant rejuvenator) a shower, a bit of moisturiser, lip gloss and I’d be ready to go!

Fitness mantra:
I hit the gym for an hour every day when I am not shooting. I drink lots of coconut water. I try to be active throughout; even if I am at home, I do my own stuff like cleaning my room, wardrobe and so on.

Tress fix
I frequently deep condition my hair, as it dries up because of all the styling products. I love the Kerastase range.

One tip that has never let me down:
Keeping my skin clean. There’s nothing as attractive as a clean and pretty make-up-free face!Ageing gracefully/going under the knife:Ageing gracefully, for sure!

Sameera Reddy's Fitness Mantra

Fitness mantra
Fitness is something which tops my priority list. Since I am in front of the camera, I can’t ever afford to ignore my body. I make it a point to exercise everyday. Moreover, since I have to travel a lot, I need to take care of my health.

Exercise regimen
I am heavily into power yoga. I religiously do it everyday for an hour.
Swimming is another great form of work out which exercises the entire body. I rejuvenate by swimming. I come alive after 45mins of free style swimming.
Basically I go to Gym, jog at the Joggers Park and swim at least for 45mins.

I work out daily at least for an hour. Leena Mogre, my fitness trainer, knows that I get bored of a routine workout very easily. So I do power yoga, swim and weight train thrice a week. I ensure that I keep myself active all the time without overtaxing my body though.

Fitness Tips
Since I know how I felt when I was plump, I would suggest that one should not try drastic measure to loose weight. There’s a right and sensible way; a long-term way that will keep you fit. Being skinny is not beautiful or healthy. It can only give you acidity and long-term health problems. You can combine healthy eating, with good exercise and healthy living and thus have a very good figure without destroying your body for the sake looking slim.

Sameera Reddy's Fab Body Secrets:
"I'm addicted to fitness," says dusky beauty Sameera Reddy. "The days I don't do some kind of exercise, I don't sleep well, I feel depressed and generally, I'm in a bad mood.

"Her favourite sweat-it-out modes? Swimming and dancing!

However Sameera is quick to explain what fitness really means to her. "I exercise to feel good and healthy not just to have a slim body," she clears.

To avoid monotony and boredom, Sameera changes her exercise regime frequently."

I start my day with 20 minutes of yoga where I do stretching exercises that make the body supple. This is followed either by my Kathak riyaz or working out at the gym in the evening where I do circuit training or simply an hour of swimming."

Sameera Reddy loves swimming and dancing as means to stay fit. So if you were wondering if that lithe body swiftly lapping through the pool in Musafir was a body double, you now know the truth.Careful with her diet, Sameera skips aerated drinks, has lots of fruits, a healthy vegetarian lunch and a high protein dinner between 8-9 pm."

"Sameera believes there is a definite co-relation between the mind and body."

Honestly, they both balance each other. A good work-out makes me feel positive and stronger in mind.

In turn, this helps you cope with the pressures of day-to-day living." Prone to stress frequently, her best stress-buster is cross training or swimming.

I don’t have gym memberships all over the country. I usually just walk in and ask the manager if they will allow me to use their facilities for the day. They always do and no one has ever allowed me to pay anything. Still, I always pay the trainers at the gym if they help me with my workout.

Importance of fitness
Health and fitness are things which one can’t ever afford to ignore. To sum up, stay fit and stay happy.

Amrita Rao's Beauty Routine - Skin and Hair Care

Skin Care

I am particular about cleansing my skin on a daily basis to avoid acne and blemishes. I never use make-up when I'm not shooting. I use Cetaphil face cleanser to remove my make-up, which if left unwashed is the main reason for blackheads. I pamper my skin with a good night cream before I go to bed. I use a hydro-nourishing under eye cream at night. It spreads evenly and restores the moisture balance. Since I have oily skin, I use a fig and fruit pack that does wonders for my skin.

Hair Care

I oil my hair with baby oil as often as I can for smooth and soft hair.
Plus, I shampoo and condition my hair daily.

Amrita Rao's Workout Schedule

I have a personal trainer, who comes home thrice in a week. I usually work-out to tone my body with dumbbells. I don't work-out on weights. I primarily do aerobics and stretching to keep myself fit. I do a lot of stretching, which is necessary for flexibility in dancing. I am a healthy girl so working out is not a must for me! I must confess I am lucky in this regard. I can eat what I like.

Tips For A Healthy Exercise Regime
Develop healthy habits by jogging and walking that extra mile. Work-out in gym only if you feel it is necessary for you otherwise please don't kill yourself with weights for hours. Beauty lies in being healthy so they say – early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise!

Amrita Rao's Daily Diet Routine

I am a pure vegetarian. I begin my day with 2 glasses of lukewarm water. Along with breakfast I drink fresh fruit juices. Breakfast is light and I prefer eating ghar ka khana. I usually have theplas and parathas for breakfast and follow a balanced diet throughout the day. Lunch consists of two chapattis, green vegetables, sabzi and dal with rice! Dinner is again the same. I love to eat mushrooms and cabbage. I am not a party person so I am faithful to my mom's khana (food). Before I go to sleep, I drink a glass of milk, which not only provides me with a good, sound sleep, but also supplements me with all the required ingredients!"

My favorite cuisine

Our Mangalorian cuisine and I love Thai food.

Diet Plans

I don't believe in fasting or binging. I eat in moderation and I eat to live and not live to eat. It is not good to starve yourself or overstuff your own body. Love your body because if it remains in good shape, you'll always be healthy. I don't tend to put on weight.

I start my day with two glasses of warm water and follow a balanced diet throughout the day. I avoid leafy veggies and roadside food during the monsoons. I always try and avoid deep-fried and packaged foods.

Tips on Healthy Eating

It is very important to understand your own body structure. Eat what you like, but eat in moderation. Avoid junk foods, cheese and fats. Avoid deep-fried and packaged foods as much as possible. Eating outside home can create lots of complications. So try to eat food made at home. It is not only hygienic but also tastes so well apart from being healthy.

In a world preoccupied with a desire to look like stars, here are a few fitness secrets of our celebs

Actor Surya is on a ‘no salt, no oil’ diet to shed extra fat for a new look in Vaaranam Aayiram. Pork, meat and beef are a strict no no, and it is only sea food for him to stay in shape. And, Aamir Khan is glowing thanks to plenty of water and a balanced diet. Sweating it out, dieting and meditating are nothing new for celebrities. Staying in shape and looking good are part of the job. In Hollywood, prunes, asparagus and parsley seem to be the staple diet. Did you know that Jennifer Lopez sniffs grapefruit oil and Cindy Crawford sips vinegar to kill hunger pangs?

Top secrets
A book, ‘The Black Book of Hollywood Diet Secrets’ exposes the unlikely foods and drinks that celebrities say can help them shed pounds. Their sculpted figures come after a lot of hard work and commitment. Can ordinary mortals give the celebrity way a shot?

Says Shanker Basu, CEO of Maverick fitness Studio, who works with film stars: “One should not read too much into celeb diets. Diet plans have to be unique. So there is no point following anybody.” “An individual’s goals, metabolism, fitness level all come into play. We have to ascertain the metabolic typing first, whether somebody is a Carbs type, or a Protein type or a mixed type,” he explains.

Vivek Anand, managing director of Fitness One, whose clientele includes racer Narain Karthikeyan, cricketers and squash champions, says the fascination to look like stars is always there, especially among youngsters. “If they want to flex muscles like Vikram or sport the six pack abs of Shah Rukh Khan, they need to work on it,” he says.

Eat right, listen to your body, and follow a customised diet plan. Above all, the motivation and commitment to achieve your ‘fitness goal’ are important. Salman Khan is a shining example, he says. “So is Prithiviraj. They make sure to work out at our centre when shooting in Chennai. They follow a customised fitness regimen which includes prescribed nutrition, physical activity and exercise. They enjoy it,” Vivek reveals.

For film stars, the pressure to stay in shape is immense. Shanker says Dhanush and Vikram are highly disciplined and dedicated about fitness. What is required is a holistic lifestyle modification. “There is no magic involved. It is a balance of proper nutrition, sufficient physical activity, adequate sleep and reduce stress,” adds Vivek.

Actor Priyamani’s mantra is simple. “I just make sure not to overeat.” Idlis for breakfast, chappathis and vegetables for lunch, soup and tandoor items for dinner, plenty of fruit juices in between meals and an hour-long workout is her routine. “I never touch fried foods. And, when it comes to chocolates, it is just a bite a day.”

Green tea magic
About her dashing looks in Malaikottai, she says “It’s all thanks to my co-star Vishal. I was introduced to green tea and it works wonders to detoxify your body.” Priya says looking good is important for artistes. “The desire among youngsters to look like Jennifer Aniston or Salma Hayek reveals the growing awareness about fitness. Even I draw inspiration from Kareena Kapoor, Sridevi and Priyanka Chopra. But, stick to a diet plan that suits you. Watch what you eat, and work out,” she advises.

Nutritionist Veena Sekhar, who has worked with Namitha and Surya, says that to achieve any goal, be it losing or gaining weight, or toning up, 50 per cent of the contribution is from diet, 20 per cent from rest and recuperation and 30 per cent from exercise. A balanced diet is the key. It should include cereals, pulses, legumes, fruits and vegetables, meat and milk products, fats, oils and sugar and jaggery. And, think about this balance while eating. “All you need to do is add a fruit along with idli or dosa. Go in for vegetable sambar and mint chutney instead of coconut chutney. And, round that off with a glass of milk,” she suggests.

Fitness freaks
She quotes Deepika Padukone, Vikram, Sibiraj, Vincent Ashokan and Shreya as examples of fitness. Summing up, Shanker Basu says: “In today’s world, less inorganic food, more fresh juices and vegetables, cardio and weight training are of paramount important. And, the fitness regimen has to be unique.”

Fitness mantra
  • Never skip meals. It leads to craving for high calorie foods.
  • Go in for fresh food and lean meat.
  • Include pulses and legumes.
  • Consume fruits and vegetables liberally.
  • Have milk products in moderation.
  • Use fats, oils and sugars sparingly.
  • Avoid oily foods.

Treading Too Hard: Over-Exercising Has Taken its Toll on Bipasha’s Knee

Bipasha Basu has taken her fitness regimen too far. She has apparently overdone her workout, running 10 km at a stretch on the treadmill. So much so that she has developed a knee problem. However, the professional that she is she not just continued her shooting schedule, but also went ahead to shoot a dance number for Yashraj’s Bachna Ae Haseeno, continuously for four days, with the help of a physiotherapist.

Says a source present on the sets, “We were shooting at the Yashraj Studio for a special song featured on Bipasha where she is shown performing on stage. Ahmed Khan had planned some unusual sequences for a dance number where there were a lot of leg movements and involved some acrobatics too. However, Bipasha had some knee problem, which made the otherwise deft dancer a bit uneasy while performing. So much so that a special physiotherapist was appointed who spent the day on the sets to treat the actress for four days till they finished shooting that particular song.”

Bipasha plays the lead opposite Ranbir along with three other actresses in the film. Adds the source, “After giving the shot, the actress would rush to the physiotherapist (appointed for her, on the sets) for treatment. This happened every day as long as the shoot of the song was on. A few of the steps were even changed for her. The song has been shot on a lavish scale, and hence dancers (10 boys and 30 girls) from London were specially flown in.”

Says the source, “Bipasha’s knees were so bad that even her mother and sister dropped by to visit her and check on how she was coping. Apparently, she had done some rigorous workouts running 10 kms continuously on the treadmill that resulted in the pain in her knees. But now she is taking it easy.”

When contacted, choreographer Ahmed Khan says, “There was a bit of a health issue with Bipasha but she coped really well.”

Priyanka Chopra's Idea of Relaxation and Her Happiness Quotient

    MY IDEA OF RELAXATION :

Spending time with family and friends. Reading books, catching up on movies, listening to good music, a good massage, going for long drives, sleeping, it could be anything. Also yoga helps a lot to relax and refresh.

    MY HAPPINESS QUOTIENT:

Work keeps me happy. Also my family. I am a family person by nature and would rather spend time at home with them, than party out. Simple things in life like seeing a child smile makes me happy. Chilling at home and watching a nice movie gives me as much joy as shooting round-the-clock does. I really am a happy-go-lucky-person. I love to have positive people around me. There is no room for negativity in my life. I’m a very positive and optimistic person myself and appreciate the same qualities in others as well.

Priyanka Chopra's Daily Food - No Diet Plans for Priyanka

Fortunately I do not have a tendency to put on weight and can get away eating as much as I want to, which is a blessing in this industry. But even then, I’m not weight-conscious and eat well like a Punjabi kudi. I love eating ghar ka khana and am nonfussy about food.

So no diet plans for me at all. What I do try and avoid is oily food. I don’t have that in excess.

    Priyanka's Daily Diet
    • My daily diet consists of regular food like chapati, vegetables, soups, salads, rice, dal and lots of fruits.
    • Also juices and water are very high on my intake list. In fact, water is a must for everyone, at least ten glasses a day. I often overshoot that, but it does wonders to your skin.
    • But I often indulge my tastebuds over weekends and they are reserved for binging on chocolates, cakes and tandooris.
    Priyanka's Favourite Dishes

    • Chicken or Mutton Biryani
    • Curd Rice With South Indian Fish Curry
    • Makkai Ki Roti with Sarson Ka Saag.
    • I love all kinds of Stuffed Parathas with White Butter. That is what I have for breakfast.
    I hate

Bombay Duck. My mother loves it. Whenever she craves for it, my dad, my brother and I just leave the house. She is not allowed to cook it in my house! I am not into sea food at all.

Priyanka Chopra's Workout Regime: Her Fitness Quotient

    WORKOUT REGIME:

    I am Not a Gym-Freak
I am not a gym-freak, but I do work out regularly to keep the body well-toned. The idea is to keep fit and healthy and not shrink myself by two or three sizes. I find that trend amongst celebrities disturbing, since a lot of kids and teenagers strive to attain our kind of figures, but without proper guidance. That could prove harmful in the long run.

My gym work-outs usually last for about an hour.

    I Recommend Yoga
I also do yoga and find it both relaxing and very energising. It’s great to keep your mind and body healthy. It’s definitely something I would recommend.

Sanjay Dutt's Fitness - How Sanju Lost 26 kgs!

    Sanju loses 26 kgs!
Sanjay Dutt has actually lost that much weight, by exercising for four hours every day, and only eating fish

Sanjay Dutt has taken to fitness like a duck takes to water. The actor has lost 26 kgs (yeah, you read that right) for his action-packed thriller Blue, which is being produced by Ashtavinayak. Dutt is currently in the Bahamas shooting for the film, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone. Manyata is also with Sanjay in the Bahamas.
A source says, “It was extremely important for Sanjay to lose a lot of weight after he came out of prison where he had developed a double chin and a big paunch.”
So how did Sanju lose that much weight? Hollywood trainer Lawrence, who has flown in from Los Angeles, has been training Sanjay. It is believed that the actor earlier wanted Mark Twight, who trained the cast of the war epic 300, but Mark was busy with other commitments. That's how Lawrence came into the picture.
Our source adds, “Sanjay hits the gym for two hours twice a day. Above all, he is completely off alcohol. It may be recalled that Sanjay was the first actor to focus on fitness. Remember his physique in Subhash Ghai's Khalnayak? He is getting back to his earlier fit self.”
And what about his diet? “Almost 90 per cent of Sanjay's diet comprises fish dishes,” says the source.
When contacted, Sanjay's close friend Dharam Oberoi (CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions) who is with him in the Bahamas confirmed the story. He says, “Yes, Dutt Sir has lost 26 kgs in the past few months. He is looking very lean and fit now. Currently, he is shooting for some very tough underwater scenes.”
Sanjay, Manyata and Dharam Oberoi will return to Mumbai on July 2.

Fitness Tips From Harman Baweja - How Harman Keeps Fit

Are you the kind who hates to go to the gym? Or the kind who hates to diet? Well, here's hope.

Harman Baweja -- the hottest newcomer in town, who makes his debut in Love Story 2050 -- looks like he's hiding a six-pack under his shirt. And to think that just a few years ago, he weighed a good 90 kilos!

Ironically, Harman does not believe in gymming too long. He claims to not have seen the insides of a gym in weeks! And he doesn't even diet. He tells us how he keeps fit:

    • I was very skinny as a child. But in the last few years, I put up a lot of weight -- I was almost 90, 95 kilos! When you're an assistant director (to father Harry Baweja), you live on vada pav, pav bhaji, dabeli, food on the sets, 10 chais a day...whatever you can get! Your focus is on getting your work done -- making sure the Beta tape is delivered at 2 am, continuity sheets, all of that.
    • But when you want to become an actor, you have to start focusing on your body. I worked out a lot then. But I'm not the type who believes in spending hours in the gym, taking pills and supplements. I haven't been to the gym in some weeks now. But I'm still fit.
    • People think that fitness is about going to the gym; that gym jaakar body banti hai (one gets a body by frequenting the gym). But fitness is more about 'internal' than 'external'. We need to eat right. That doesn't mean that I skip my aloo parathas or my rajma-chawal or my chocolate ice cream. I eat everything. When God has made so many kinds of food, why eat only boiled eggs!
    • If I'm training for dance rehearsals -- for an hour to one-and-a-half hours, with breaks -- that's my fitness regime for the day. I'm not obsessive about my fitness. If I can dance, shoot action sequences, stay up late and give interviews after work...that's fitness to me.
    • I went on a diet when I was trying to lose weight. If you ask me to take my shirt off, I'll need a week. In that week, I'll diet and cut down on what I need to, and focus on getting sharp cuts. The day I give that shot, I'll start eating again.
    • I used to have protein shakes when I started working off, I won't deny that. When you start working out, there's a lot of peer pressure and you tend to try everything. So I did. But I left all that in the last one year. I wouldn't recommend protein shakes at all.
    • The biggest fitness tip is to eat right, and in proportion. Excess of anything is bad, including diet food. If you eat too much diet food, you're not getting the essential minerals and vitamins that the body needs. So you need a balanced. And if you can work out for even half an hour a day -- in whatever form -- that's enough.

Esha Deol's Exercise and Fitness Regime

Aditya Chopra, the producer (of Dhoom), wanted me for the role of a glamour girl in the film and told me to reinvent myself, after delivering specifics for the role in terms of look and character. So I geared up and got a new regime for my workout. When I started out, I had lots of time on my hands as I had taken a break and wasn’t signing any films, so for seven months, I worked out for one-and-a-half to two hours at the gym, every day. I’d do cardio (treadmill, cycling, steppers).

I managed to get that sexy abs that I never thought was possible. For my washboard-flat stomach, I worked with my trainer (Sherveer Vakil) for one hour daily. I owe my trim--sexy look to buddy Zayed Khan. He pushed me into joining a fitness course and after a year of doing barbell and dumb-bell, I’ve become a fitness fanatic. I’ve also realised the importance of eating right and avoiding oily, fatty food.

Now, I hardly get the time to work out, but I still make it a point to go to the gym, as much as possible. Working out makes me feel relaxed and at peace. Now, I do 45 minutes non-stop circuit workouts, but no cardio. I do this to take out excess water retention.

Circuit workout includes chest, back, bicep, tricep, freehand exercises, lifting lightweights, abs, squats and stomach crunches. I am totally pooped at the end of my workouts. It’s important to sweat a lot and burn calories while exercising.

Eat in Moderation, Drink in Moderation but Work Out in Excess - Rahul Dev

Rahul Dev, is a firm believer that nothing in life is better than a decent workout. He has converted that belief in concrete reality through his muscles."Everyone asks me, how do you maintain such a great physique? I tell them that to have a good body; you need to have a good mind. Only then can you concentrate on your fitness regime. I don't use any of these body-enhancing supplements because I think they do affect your body in the long run”, says Rahul.

New mummy on the block, Raveena Tandon-Thadani, is slowly, but surely back to her pre-natal weight - Find out how

Know how Raveen Tandon got back to shape after pregnancy

    Bend it like Ravs
The cheez is back to looking rather mast. Raveena Tandon-Thadani has spent the last three years getting pregnant, losing her baby weight, and getting pregnant again. With 26 kgs off in 6 months and only three more to go to reach her ideal weight, Ravs does not subscribe to the size zero craze. She’s a tall (5 feet six inches), big-boned girl of Punjabi heritage. “I have always been a UK Size 8,” she says, “And won’t look good if I got any thinner. I don’t want the starved look.”

Raveena credits her looks to the daily dose of ghee and parathas her mother fed her as a child. And it’s hard to disagree — her skin has always glowed and shows no sign of tiredness that results from caring for a 3-year-old and a 10-month-old.

“Your foundation has to be strong,” she emphasises, “Your body is going to be putting in its best while making a new human being. Because I always ate healthy, I was able to recover from birthing quickly.” She believes those who are extremely thin look “haggard and their skin loses their glow.”

While Hollywood moms such as Jennifer Lopez were up at 4 am to fit in gruelling fitness routines just two weeks after giving birth, Raveena was in no such hurry. “You have to only think about the baby for the first four months,” she says, “Your body is functioning overtime to nurture the child in the most important months of its life. It’s also recovering from a physical trauma. If you start dieting or exercising, you won’t be able to produce adequate milk and you’ll be exhausted.”

Four months after the birth of her second child — Ranbir — Raveena got back on the treadmill.

    WHAT’S THE WORK-OUT

    • Raveena spent small stretches on the treadmill till she went into labour to maintain stamina. Four months later, she stepped back on it, starting with 20 minutes and gradually going to 45-minute stretches with the speed set to 3.5 to 4
    • Thrice a week, she works at Karuna Swami’s class at Clay Wellness Spa in Bandra. Karuna does different kind of exercises each time to challenge her body
    • Each class lasts for one hour. Since Raveena has the tendency to put on muscle easily, two classes comprise various kinds of cardio exercises while one of them focuses on toning
    • For cardio, Karuna mixes up steps, high and low aerobics and Bollywood dancing
    • Once a week, toning is taken care of with power yoga, ball yoga (a new and more strenuous form of yoga involving the Swiss ball) and Pilates
    • Karuna’s Salsa and Mambo routines involve toning and cardio since “the dance forms are very feminine and energetic and you have to keep your body tensed”
    • To lose her caesarean stomach pouch, Raveen does 20 to 25 sets of different ab crunches, totalling to 200 crunches.

    WHAT SHE EATS

    • Steamed or grilled food in olive oil
    • Brown bread, jowar roti
    • Prefers ghee to butter
    • Avoids sugar
    • Opts for lean meats such as chicken or fish
    • During her first pregnancy, she experienced water-retention. So the second time, she cut down her salt intake, so she had less weight to lose
    • She gains and loses weight easily. To control it, Raveena has six small meals in a day.

    CHEATING IS ALLOWED

    • Places her treadmill in front of the TV and puts on a movie she has been wanting to watch
    • Works out with husband Anil or in a group class at Clay for motivation
    • Rewards herself with a piece of cake if she reaches her exercise target for the week
    • Drank juice throughout her pregnancies, whenever she felt like it
    • When her body reaches a plateau, she goes on a refresher diet of milk and bananas for one day only. Her system jumpstarts again
    • Buys pants that are one size smaller as motivation.

    TIPS

    • In pregnancies post 30 years of age, the body’s BMI goes low and thus it is important that exercise be followed by a strict control on the diet
    • In late pregnancies, the diet is more important than sustained exercise for gradual weight-loss
    • Do not do any resistance or endurance training during pregnancy.

    Survival of the Slimmest!

Adnan Sami may have lost 109 kilos, but he insists that losing the last 20 kilos is going to be the toughest

Adnan Sami has received a 'fitting' response for having lost 109 kilos. The singer, however, says that it is still a 'weight and watch' situation for him as the next 20 kilos that will get him to his target weight of 80 kilos will be the toughest to knock off.

"Losing weight is like running a marathon, where running the last lapse is the toughest. You know you are close to victory but you're nearing exhaustion and need to put in that last-ditch effort, no matter what," says Adnan who is drawing support from friends and family in his effort to slim down. "I am able to keep at it only because of the co-operation and support I have received from my family and friends. It's getting very tougher each day but I am heartened by the support I have been receiving."

Adnan was shaken out of his complacence about his weight when his doctor had a word with him last year. "One day, my doctor bluntly told me that he wouldn't be surprised if my parents found me dead in a hotel."

That incident spelt a major turning point in his life. Adnan started his diet programme in July last year (2006) and since then life has been different for him. "Only after losing the first 20 kilos did people notice that I was slimmer. 'Oh, we actually see a dent somewhere" they would say," laughs Adnan. "Now I can experience the simple joys of life like any normal person. Guess what, I can sit crossed-legged now. Earlier I would sleep in a sitting position, now I lie down! I used to love travelling but it soon became a nightmare as I was so petrified of walking at the airports, not fitting into seats…"
