Shilpa Shetty's Physical Trainer Talks about how She got the ‘European look’ in just 12 Weeks for 'Big Brother'
Shilpa Shetty's physical trainer talks about how she got the ‘European look’ in just 12 weeks! When Shilpa Shetty signed the contract for Big Brother show a few months ago, she was worried about the shape of her body. That's when her sister Shamita's trainer Sherin Poojari stepped in. Sherin says, "I was working with Shamita as her personal trainer, and I always thought that Shilpa had an amazing body and she needn't do anything. But when she signed Big Brother, she wanted to get a different look and I thought of giving her a European look." Now Sherin is Shilpa's personal trainer and doesn't work with any other Bollywood celebrity.
Sherin explains the European concept of fitness. "The Indian concept of looking fit is about losing weight, but the European concept is to attain a lean, muscular body," explains Sherin. Shilpa had only 12 weeks in hand to bring about the necessary changes in her body. "It was not an impossible task, but it required a lot of restrictions and dedication," he says. Luckily, Shilpa being a health freak, she would abide by the rules of her trainer religiously. "She would work out in her personal gymnasium for 45 minutes, five days a week. And she would never eat food which was not listed in the diet chart," says Sherin.
There is a misconception that when you are working on your body, one should skip meals. Sherin insisted that Shilpa eats four-course meals, but would follow a diet chart. "For breakfast, she would eat cereals and porridges. For lunch I had suggested her to eat rotis and chicken with lots of water. In the evening, she would grab a sandwich and a glass of fruit juice. She would have only salads for dinner. But the salad would be heavy in protein because she would have chicken and egg whites in it. I also gave her a protein supplement," says Shilpa's trainer.
When she participated in Big Brother everyone praised Shilpa's body and Sherin claims that Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone's trainer called him to compliment him on his work. "I got a call from Rehan Jalali who has trained Sylvester Stallone, he felt that Shilpa has a body," he says.
Generally actresses avoid weight training, and apart from Esha Deol, Bipasha Basu and Koena Mitra none of the Bollywood actresses have muscular body. Now Shilpa joins the gang after Sherin trained her for 12 weeks.
"I think she has the height to carry off muscles. Shilpa was very sincere about working out. The first four weeks she mainly did on cardio and jogging, later I increased the weight training," he says.
Sherin feels that Shilpa should continue to work out. He says, "Post-Big Brother she got extremely busy. I think she needs to maintain her diet and also work out. I am sure Shilpa would love to maintain this look."

Mahima's Tips for Fitness Post-Pregnancy!

~ First off, I didn't attempt anything on my own; I got in touch with a friend who put me onto a full-time personal trainer.
~ I worked out a little bit for half an hour thrice a week. I suggest that this is normal and very helpful, rather than working out rigourously everyday for hours together.
~ I would say that you shouldn't rush into reducing or dieting. Just let it happen, give it time.
~ I stopped eating fried foods, although I was tempted to. New moms generally have the tendency to eat a lot of the wrong things -- I avoided them.
~ I used to sleep a lot, compensating for all the sleepless nights I had before delivery. Good sleep and rest is most important, your body needs to rest.
~ I started working out only four months post-delivery. That, I would say, is the right time, when a mother gains enough strength to start working out.

Salman's Trainers Talk About His Fitness Routine
He has also trained Salman through six tedious years. When he first call me in 2001, I concentrated on fine-tuning is exercise routine, making it more structured and streamlined,"Advilkare calls.
Today, of course his body speaks for his dedication. No matter how punishing his shooting schedule, salman will find time to exercise... He even calls me up at 3-4 am for a training session.
Exercise releases endorphins, those feel good hormones in the brain, andriding the wave , trainer and pupil sculpt the body that earned bollywood star the moniker, "Shirtless Wonder".
While weights have gained for Salman the contours the camera captures so vividly, his cardiovascular routine is punishing too. When the mood overtakes Salman , he goes cycling three hours to panvel," explains Advilkar." personally, I would find that a real challenge too."
“He does unbelievable stuff like 1,000 push-ups a day or 2,000 sit-ups a day” says Manish Advilkar, who is a fitness trainer and has trained Salman for over 6 years. Discipline and dedication have been the two pillars of Salman’s fitness success. “Today, of course his body speaks for his dedication. No matter how punishing his shooting schedule, Salman will find time to exercise” adds Manish.
Salman Khan’s Fitness Trainer D’Souza uncover Salman's fitness mantra.
Body type:
“His body structure is not like a body builder's but good muscles, perfectly in shape and no fat” says his personal trainer D’Souza.
Work keeps Salman busy most of the times. Thus, at times he starts his workout as late as 2 am. “Salman works out for at least two hours continuously. His workout includes one hour of cardio- concentrating on any two body parts each time- triceps, legs, back and biceps” says D’souza.
He is very particular and serious about his workout and once in the gym, nothing affects his concentration. While in the gym, if someone approaches him for an autograph or a photograph, he asks them to wait until he is finished with his training. He has got perfect abs and works a lot to keep them in shape. “He does five hundred crunches, pull-ups and chin-ups” adds D’Souza.
Salman to Pen Fitness Secrets?
Not that we need testimony, but even Shah Rukh Khan has gone on record to say that Salman was the first to spark off a fitness revolution in India as he first flaunted his rippling muscles and six-pack abs on the silver screen more than a decade ago. It’s no hidden secret that Salman loves to workout and has generously offered fitness tips to many actors including Hrithik Roshan, who requested Salman to train him prior to his celluloid debut in 2000.
So how did the idea strike the hunk? A source informs, “Salman’s colleagues, fans and the media have often quizzed Salman bhai on how he manages to maintain such a fabulously fit physique and so, bhai thought it would be a great idea write his own book on bodybuilding. But nothing has been finalised yet. He’s just toying with the idea,” says the source.
But reports hint that Salman wants to write this book as his first person account on his metamorphosis from his lanky skinny self in Maine Pyar Kiya to his perfect beefed up muscular physique after years of hitting the gym and diet restrictions. “Yes, basically he’s thinking of telling his story. Right from the time he got into body building to attaining those muscles to maintaining it all these years. Right now Salman hasn’t zeroed in on the main topics, but he is reading up bestselling fitness guides written by other well-known authors,” the source adds. The pen really seems to have caught Salman’s fancy, as reportedly, he has also just finished writing the script of his forthcoming film Veer.

Salman's USP and Fitness Routine
Salman Khan's Advice“Watch out what you eat, as working out is just the 20% of what you are, it’s your diet which determines the rest”
Salman's USP: His biceps, triceps and killer abs.
Fitness routine:
He works out for at least 3 hours daily. “I don’t usually get time during the day, so I start working out late in the night and end by the wee hours” says Salman. His workouts are very rigorous and that shows in the kind of body display he maintains.
And during the course of the day, he cycles and runs. He loves using his cycle especially in the middle of the night. It gives him a high and relaxes him completely.
Work out:
A fitness freak, Salman's day is "incomplete without workouts." Salman does cardio and works out on his abs to keep them as shapely as they are. Crunches and pull ups are what give him his perfect abs. He works one part in a day and never has taken any steroids or other body building substance.
He loves cycling
He runs and cycles about 10 km everyday.
He has often been spotted cycling to his film shoots.
While shooting in Chennai for Priyadarshan's film Kyon Ki, the actor who is raved about for his perfect torso, cycled his way from AVM Studios to Fitness One gym in Alwarpet.
In an other instance, Salman Khan is supposed to have cycled 90 kms, from Bandra to Karjat
Salman cycled from his residence, Galaxy Apartments at Bandra to N D Studios, Karjat for his brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri's upcoming film Hello. Of course, Salman's bodyguards followed him in a car.
So the next time you run into a cyclist with sculpted muscles, stay cool. It might be your favourite Super star!
"I Run and Cycle 10 Km Everyday," - Salman Khan!
And during the course of the day, I cycle and run. I love using my cycle especially in the middle of the night. It gives me a high and relaxes me completely. I have cycled it to my farm house in Panvel from my Bandra house with my security guys following me in my car. I have been doing it ever since I was a child. In fact, my whole family is into fitness, maybe that's why none of my family members suffers from any serious aliments.
I was very thin in my school; I started working out after I bagged my second film Maine Pyaar Kiya. My director Sooraj R. Barjatya wanted me to remove my shirt and shoot bare body for some of the scenes. I told him to give me some time and decided to hit the gym with a vengeance. And when I walked into the sets and removed my shirt for the shot, everyone present on the sets was amazed.
And from that day onwards, I started taking it seriously and started working out. I work one part in a day and never have taken any steroids or other body building substance. It's a lot of hard work and dedication and doesn't come easily.
Your body is everything, treat it and pamper it and it will never give you any problems in your life. Maybe that's why my eyesight is intact, heart pumps well and both kidneys are fine. I have thousands of fans and fellow actors coming up to me for advice and to know the secret of health. My answer to them is simple, it's no rocket science, if I can do it; anyone can do it. Thankfully all the new breed of actors we have today are fitness conscious, John, Dino, Ashmit, Shahid, Saif, etc. People are awakening to the fact that fitness is the key to man's health."
